To Garden Baptist Church, a Christ-centered church that determines to serve as a lighthouse to the community, an assembly where saints are shaped into His image and encouraged, and a place where the lost find hope. We believe that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
COVID-19 Update 5/17/2020:
I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
King David (Psalms 122:1)
On Sunday, May 17th, 2020, Garden Baptist Church will be re-opening to continue "in-sanctuary" worship services, beginning at 11:00 AM. There will still be no Sunday school for the time being, nor Sunday and Wednesday night services, which will continue to be streamed live on Facebook instead. We'll also still be broadcasting our Sunday morning service as well.
Please note that there is no expectation or pressure to attend for those who feel compelled to remain home. As stated, we'll still be continuing Facebook live feeds for all services and welcome anyone to join us in worship that way.
If you do choose to attend, feel free to wear a mask, it is appropriate and accepted. But as the governor of Virginia has now lifted that regulation, it is also okay to not wear one if you feel comfortable not doing so. We will worship together, with or without a mask.
The worship services themselves will be carried out within the guidelines of the state of Virginia, and in the spirit of common sense. Going forward now, here is what you can expect:
- Social distancing measures, such as seating arrangements, etc, will be implemented.
- A sanitation station will be set up in the foyer.
- Worship service outline and practice will be tweaked to accommodate requirements.
- Sanitation efforts will be made before and after every service.
That being said, worship service is called to be a beautiful thing where people gather together to worship the Lord. I do not want worship to be a "stressful" thing to undertake. I don't want it to feel "laborious," for it is in Christ we find "rest." Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Freedom in God is to be celebrated.
Let's use our common sense but let's not lose focus on the fact that He is worthy to be worshiped, He is worthy is be praised, and He is God, whether there is a pandemic or not.
- Those fighting sickness in our community and abroad.
- Our medical professionals in our community and abroad.
- The leadership and wisdom of our government officials.
- The leadership and wisdom of our church leaders.
- The movement of the gospel in our community and abroad.
